Walkera V120D01
With the Walkera V120D01 you won't have to pick between an indoor or outdoor helicopter any more. At 11 inches in lenght, an exhilarating V120D01 experience will fit nicely in a standard family room. A flybarless helicopter is fast and nimble, but it requires the skills of a intermediate pilot. For novice pilots the Walkera 4#6 Bell (a close cousin of the V120D01) is the best fit. After you have mastered the 4#6 Bell, then the V120D01 or the 4#6S could be the next step up.
While most helicopters this size will be seized by any slight breeze, this Walkera sub-micro is unusually tolerant of outdoor conditions becuase of 3 complementary features. First, an advanced receiver with 3-axis gyro make contineous but minute adjustment to correct roll and pitch for proper balance so that a flybarless sturcture can be implimented. Secondly, the V120D01 flybarless structure reduces mass and thus inertia which in combinaton with a shaft drive structure offer a solid tail hold. Last but not least, a lower center of gravity in combination with reduced profile, the Walkera V120D01 is truly the first micro to fly with the wind.
Let's take a look at some of the other V120D01 features that might suite your needs. V120D01 fix pitch main rotors using efficient curved blades, by nature, is not as twitchy as collective pitch main rotors with higher head speeds. But the same collective pitch mechanism featured on the V120D01's CP tail rotor has the opposite effect. Because both the V120D01 main and the tail rotors are driven by the same motor, any throttle to the main is acoompanied by a similar but opposing push at the tail to compesate for any rotational torque to prevent a change in the helicopter's orientation. Most outdated models usually rely on a separate tail motor (instead of a CP tail design) to power and sustain the helicopter's orientation. Handicapted by delayed tail signals and the inability of tail motors to accelerate or decelerate quickly, a motorized tail often swings in the opposite direction of the main rotors. With these inferior motorized tail designs, the harder your punch the throttle the wilder the tail swings.
