Walkera UFLYS/UFLY

     The Walkera UFLYS and UFLY incorporate some of the most advanced design and electronics that are suited for either aspiring beginners or professional RC pilots. While the Walkera UFLYS uses the 3-axis gyro technology the original UFLY uses traditional gyros. Walkera 3-axis gyros can be turn up or down depending on pilot ability and preference. Advanced pilots do not need the additional assistance of a 3-axis gyro so they can go with the original UFLY and save some money.

     Both UFLYs followed a utilitarian methodology which is a piggy backed development of the now popular Walkera 4#6. A fix pitch main rotor in combination with a collective pitch tail offers 10 to 12 minutes of flight time with excellent handling and unsurpassed tail hold. The classic black and white theme accented with bold red pin stripes and a checkered pattern provides high visibility against any background and the canopy can be easily removed for inspection, service and maintenance.

     Walkera UFLYS & UFLY main and tail rotors are driven by a single high performance Walkera WK-WS-21-002 brushless motor. Through a shared main gear the main rotor drives a pair of asymmetrical blades to optimized efficiency at lower and safer head speed while the shaft drive tail provides instant power as oppose to the slack of a belt driven system. Any acceleration of the main motor is automatically accompanied by a similar increase in the tail rotor to counteract any torque. An instantaneous response is accomplished with a high-speed rudder servo that controls the pitch of the tail rotors to increase or decrease air current at will as oppose to delays associated with revving up a separate tail motor.

     Specifically, The 3-axis gyro in the UFLYS' RX2435 compensate better in mild winds making it more stable for beginner/intermediate pilots. More advance pilots find it more relaxing because the UFLYS can maintain a hover without a lot of input. Basically, any pilot with minimum single-rotor helicopter experience can easily get accustomed to this flying wonder in a few days. UFLYS servos have been upgraded to digital and ESC is now at 20A.  All other specifications remains the same as the original UFLY.

     As for the Walkera UFLY, an ultra light 3 in 1 RX-2424A receiver combines state of the art 2.4Ghz receiver with a gyro and a mixer. The overall length is 510 mm and the all up weight is only about 288g. A 7.4V 800mAh 2-cell system prevents unintended disruptions to ESC and motor associated with voltage drops.

     Even with a state of the art original Walkera UFLY, there are significant upgrade potentials. The Walkera Super Ufly utilizes the RX-2428 with a more advanced HH Gyro with on board gyro gain, a super fast digital tail servo for travel adjustments plus an 18A ESC.  This Super Ufly setup is upgrade ready to the Walkera Ufly Hot Rod with a super charged Turbo Ace 36611 brushless out-runner using the stock 2-cell setup. And if you want to go a step further, the 3-cell Turbo Ace 35410 is packed with extra muscle and stability. At Wow Hobbies, we meticulously test these upgrade combinations to coordinate the power of the main with the viability of the tail. In addition to 25% to 35% increases in torque and substantial weight savings, all Wow upgrades are of higher quality to significantly extend the life span of motors and electronics.      The stock Walkera Ufly is one of the most responsive helicopters in the market today. Instead of the usual motorized tail that lags in tail hold, the Ufly shaft driven collective pitch tail provides reliable and stable heading. Although the stock brushless motor is very durable and offers sufficient power to accommodate common maneuvers, it lacks the punch for enhanced acceleration and quickness.
