$25 to $60 AIR HOGS HARVOC AND REFLEX HELICOPTERS AS SEEN ON TV are toy-quality foam micro helicopters that have limited stability, manuverbility and options for parts and upgrades. Hobby-quality Lama 2-1 helicopters, made of CNC aluminum and thermoplastic ployurethane, are paired with state of the art 2.4GHz Walkera WK-2402 (4 Channels) or WK-2801 (Programmable 8 Channels) transmitter radios. Beginner pilots can easily grow with their hobby because these prefessional transmitters are compatible with a long list of more advanced helicopter models. Only the most sophisticated counter rotating micro helicopter such as the Lama 2-1 includes a gyro that stabilizes rotational forces. A high speed processor combined with precision mechanics translates to extremely responsive handling much like a sports car. While toy-quality tend to drift in one direction with the aid of a paper clip, the Lama 2-1 hovers effortlessly and takes off on a dime at your command!
THE WALKERA LAMA 2-1 AND THE NOVUS CX utilize reliable state of the art 2.4 gigahertz technology for transmitting signals and both are made by Walkera, the world's most prominent micro helicopter manufacturer. With three (listed below) major upgrades more than the Novus CX (a rebranded Lama 2), the Lama 2-1 is the ultimate choice for beginner helicopter hobbyists. Boosting performance and reliability without increasing cost, the Walkera Lama 2-1 utilizes (1) precision CNC alluminum rotor head parts, (2) a new durable RX and (3) high performance lever servos for a premium "hobby" quality helicopter. At two grades lower, the E-flite MCX is made from mostly plastic parts, has lower power motors and a weaker battery and even the MCX battery charger is powered by batteries instead of a convenient wall plug used on a Lama 2-1 charger. At the lowest level, the Air Hogs or Havoc Helis are 3 channel low grade foam helicopters with flimsy construction that utilize infrared controls.
The Walkera Lama 2-1 helicopter utilizes 2 sets of counter rotating blades to maximize stability without the additional complication and weight of a tail rotor component. Either set of rotating blades generates a torque in one direction which is cancelled out by an equivalent torque in the opposite direction. The 4in1 RX provide further weight reduction by combining the receiver, the servos, the gyro and the mixer.
There are 2 basic Walkera Lama 2-1 packages, one with a transmitter and one without. Hobbyists can save even more if they already have the Walkera WK2401 transmitter by opting for the package without the transmitter. The WK2401 4-Channel TX is the same as the rebranded HMXJ2021 Helimax Novus TX which is fully compatible with all Walkera 4 channel 2.4gHz helicopters including the Lama 2-1, Lama 2, 4#3B/A, 4#3Q, 5G6-1, 5#10 and Novus CX & FP.
