WALKERA CB180Z-PRO / CB180Z / CB180D / CB180Q
12-21-10 Update: In 2010, the surge of CB180Z-PRO has dominated the beginner/intermediate outdoor helicopter market. It's success not only devastated it's competiting Eflite and Esky models but also left a big dent in it's own predecessor, the once popular CB180D (now officially discontinued from our website). And for differnt reasons, the fuselaged version of the CB180D, the CB180Q has also met its end. A vulnerable fuselages that's makes maintenance more difficult is not compatible with training. Therefore, CB180Q didn't quite fit with one of the key functions of the CB180 series in allowing pilot to train and transition into single non-co-axial helicopters. Subsequently, the fuselaged is now available on the all new V200DQ01 which more suited to more seasoned pilot with less crashes. The scaled look of the V200DQ01 combines a merticulously crafted fuselage with the realism of a clean flybarless design.
8-5-10 Update: The CB180Z-PRO has just replaced the CB180Z as the best seller in the 200 class outdoor helicopter category. When utilized in conjunction with the WK2403 transmitter, the CB180Z-PRO's extended servo travel allows you choose between "100%" normal flying mode and "150%" wind resistant mode with a flip of a switch. In contrast, the same switch on the original CB180Z's limited servo travel can only operate in near windless conditions between 50% and 100%. As CB180Z-PRO became the #1 seller in the beginner/intermediate outdoor helicopter in 2010, CB180D and CB180Q volume has drop of the chart and it's now officially discontinued.
2-25-10 Update: Wow Hobbies will be the first to release the brand new Walkera CB180Z with 3-Axis Gyro and shaft driven tail in the USA. There is a huge demand on this new and updated model of the older CB180D. Even with 3 shipments coming in the next few days, availability is still very limited. So place your order today before they are all gone. The Walkera CB180Z is set to be the #1 seller of all mini-sized RC helicopters. State of the art Walkera technology in combination with Wow Hobbies quality assurance flight test make this helicopter the best value in the industry!
A chorus of pilots has embraced the Walkera CB180Z/CB180D and CB180Q with RC fever. With reliable 2.4G technology, beauty is more than skin deep. The Walkera CB180Z/CB180D and its full fuselage sibling, the Walkera CB180Q, have created a massive following of RC helicopter enthusiasts. Featuring state of the art electronics, super powered motors, precision CNC-machined aluminum rotor head and light weight carbon integration, you would think the CB180D/Q would cost a fortune. At around $130 to $140, Walkera has set a new standard in quality and value. With an all-up weight of 288g and a overall length of 460mm, this mid-sized helicopter is one of the best options for back yard pilots.
While the Walkera 180D's high contrast black and white theme is strikingly accented with beautifully machined red CNC metal rotor head for maximum rigidity and precision, the Walkera 180Q offers bold and sporty orange colored CNC metal parts. On the other hand, the Walkera CB180Z features a stunning checkered racing theme. Each model is further coordinated with matching tail rotor for overall visual appeal. Built to endure, the CB180Z/D is fitted with one of the strongest hollowed steel landing skids available and the tail structure is reinforced with struts to minimized vibration and ossilation. Using the best selling micro-sized CB100 platform, the Walkera CB180D & CB180Q are smartly adapted larger version which will hold up well in mild outdoor conditions. In addition, the Walkera CB180Z 3-axis gyro will self-correct in breezy situations. You can turn up the 3-axis gyro for extra help or turn it down for more direct pilot control.
Walkera has a superb reputation for cutting edge 2.4G receivers with advanced gyros and the CB180D/Q does not disappoint. CB180D electronics feature the RX2423 receiver with electronic gyro, 370SH high performance main motor and a smaller and quicker 1225FE33 tail motor with heat sink element. Both motors are appropriately fueled by a reliable 2-cell 7.4V 1000mAh Lipo battery for top performance and precise handling. 2.4G transmitter/receiver technology allows over 20 helicopters to fly simultaneously in the same airfield. Each code pairing provides a unique identification for reliable communication between aircraft and pilot. With a full charge, you can expect 10 to 12 minutes of pure pleasure depending on flight mode.
Some times the smallest improvements can make a huge difference and this is where experience pays off. For instance, many of the older JST battery connectors can often be plugged in reverse. The consequence can be dire for the helicopter and the operator. Walkera has installed a jacket to reinforce the keying function of the JST connector to prevent such mishaps. Then there is the new and improved compact swash plate which lowers the center of gravity and reduces maintenance. Walkera also did a beautiful job in molding plastic composites of different volume and flexibility at specific locations to minimize weight without compromising structural integrity. And because it's a 2.4Ghz 4-channel design, the most reliable and cost effective transmitter options can be utilized.
The WK-2401 transmitter provides a simple but yet effective trim that is easy to see and adjust while the WK-2402 utilizes a LCD screen for consistent digital adjustments and displays. Another convenient upgrade you should consider is the transmitter battery. Stock battery tray for the transmitter requires eight "AA" batteries. If a failure occurs, it's often difficult to figure out which one or more of the batteries is low or damaged. The process of removing and reinserting batteries can often cause a problem in itself due to repetitive forces applied on the battery tray contacts and wires. Especially for frequent flyer pilot, we highly recommend that you replace your 8 "AA" batteries and associated battery tray with the transmitter battery available at http://www.wowhobbies.com/transmitterbattery-lipo2200mah15cbatteryforthewalkeratransmitterwk2401wk2402wk2601wk2602wk2801radios.aspx . You will need a 3-cell 11.1V charger/balancer to recharge a transmitter battery. If you don't already have one of these chargers then you will need to get the CX450-50-01 Balancer/Charger at http://www.wowhobbies.com/cx450-50-01balancerchargerwithadapter.aspx .
The Walkera CB180Z, CB180D and Walkera CB180Q are the best pilot friendly helicopters available on the market. With that said, any one who has had some co-axial helicopter experience can ease themselves into single rotor/axial piloting using the Walkera CB180Z/CB180D/CB180Q. A 45 degree self-stabilizing flybar provides extra stability on this very agile single rotor architecture. The tail motor is strategically located just behind the main frame to minimize tail mass. A direct shaft driven 3-blades tail rotor provides increased tail authority. The dual function tail boom serves as both the torque tube and the structural support for the tail rotor mechanism. Voila, a solid tail hold resulting from an improved weight consolidation at the middle of the aircraft instead of the swing sensitive tail.
