Difference between a stock version of Lama 3 and this custom Wow3 version of the Lama 3.
The stock Lama3 comes with a short main shaft so the top and bottom blades easy trikes each other when you bank the heli in a turn and the heli crashs. With the Wow 3 version, we have replaced the stock main shaft with extended shaft and guarantee the blades will not strike each other no matter how hard you turn or bank the heli. Since the extended shaft of Wow 3 is made of Aero space material, we have not seen a bend main shaft even with light crashes. Replacing the main shaft can be time consuming and difficult as the stock shaft bends easily when the stock Lama3 blades scrap the ground.
At Wow, all our RC helicopters are triple inspected and tested. After Walkera completes the initial post production quality assurance test, each shipment is tested again by Wow's Shenzheng, China QA Center. The third and final test by Wow's California Warehouse includes an actual hover/gyro test and a multi-point inspection of parts and mechanisms. Disclaimer, since Wow Hobbies is not the manufacturer of this helicopter, we are unable to control factory QA. Due to the size of this helicopter, it is the responsibility of the customer to re-locktit all screws to make sure it is safe. It is a common practice to remove each screw and make sure locktite is applied. This is ture even if it a name brand such as the Align Trex450 as discussed oi the Helifreak forum.

This is the new Lama 3 version Wow3. Featuring Aero-Extend extended main shaft and collar made frome USA aerospace steel #17-4 PH and aluminum alloy. It is the upgraded version of the Lama 3 that allows the servo extend to be turned up which greatly improves performance. Stock Lama 3 without the upgrade will not be able to fly without the risk of blade strike.
Wow Hobbies will install the mod with the Aero-Extend shaft and collar, make the servo travel adjustment, flight test the heli and box it up without yanking the mod parts and it will fly out of the box. So the $499 RTF and the $399 Bind-and-Fly custom Wow3 versions both will include Aero-Extend shaft and collar, custom installation, travel adjustments to fly in windy condition, flight test and no DOA (dead on arrival) guarantee. If you add all these up, they can easily cost additional $100, so do the math on labor + custom parts + guarantee + low shipping cost. We have a special way to pack the heli even thou it is 1.3 inch taller and it will arrive safely to destination. Shipping only cost $35 to anywhere in the continental USA.
Additional test has been conducted on the stock Lama 3. After our prelimary stock Lama 3 test flights, we have examined the stock shaft and had discovered significant wear from the one way bearing (Appx. 5-8 battery flights). The cause of this was attributed by the one way bearing design of the LM3 (nothing wrong with the design, it just needs better material), the steel material used and the way the shaft was nickel plated. Pieces of nickel plates have flaked off and a good layer of steel has been worn out. To address this issue, the following process has been carefully implemented in the Aero-Extend shaft of the LM3 Wow3 version . Just for clarification, the Aero-Extend shaft is not made by Extreme and they are not be nearly comparable under the same classification of material and composition.
1. Unlike the grade of steel used on the Walkera stock shaft and other compatible shaft. The aerospace 17-4 PH hardened steel material used on the Aero-Extend shaft withstands wear and tear under streme conditions.
2. By selecting the aerospace grade steel, the Aero-Extend shaft does not need to be nickel plated (it does not corrode without the plating), therefore no nickel plate fall out problem from the stock nickel plated shaft.
3. Due to the length of the shaft, tensile strength plays an important factor in preventing the shaft from bending during a crash. Aerospace grade steel (Made in the USA) becomes a necessary ingredient of a well built shaft that snaps back to its original shape even after a light crash.
4. Aero-Extend shaft is longer than stock shaft, keeping the bottom blades from striking the top blades when the helicopter banks in a turn.
5. The extended aluminum alloy collar is made of high tensile strength aluminum that resistant wear and tear. It is anodized in USA with aerospace specifications. It is composed of aluminum alloys that resist bending.
In summary, it is not only important that the Aero-Extend shaft prevents the Lama3 blades from striking but it is also more durable and resistant to damage in a crash.
